“WASABI-RADIO” – Great music, guaranteed to move you / or at the very least – get your feet moving!

Rev. Dr. William Barber II

“There comes a time when we must declare eternal dissatisfaction with poverty, racism, materialism, and militarism…!

Willie Nelson

Beautiful song – originally by Coldplay.  But as with all things, Willie covers it with grace & dignity.

War Of The Worlds, 1971

Probably the best Radio Drama I’ve ever heard.

No actors – New York radio station WKBW used their actual news and DJ staff, presenting the original Orson Wells story in a contemporary 1971 radio news-style.  Once in 1968, and again, in 1971.

The accompanying news stories are real-world news stories (Ireland’s terrorist attacks, public protests to the Attica State prison riots, Nixon & the Peace Corps), reported just as heard on their regular station news during that current day (Oct 31st, 1971).

DJ Jackson Armstrong and commercial sponsor Keyhole Fashions provide fantastic nostalgic 1970s backdrop.

Treat yourself.  Put this on & let it run in the background, just like having the radio on.  You’ll be glad you did!

Waiting on the World to Change.

Pop with guitars and a bit of a soul music vibe.

I’ve never heard of musician John Mayer, but whilst looking at something else, I noticed this track has over 4 million views! How could I have missed this??

Anyway, I thought, “Well heck – 4 million views…”  So I gave it a spin, and it’s real REAL nice.   Enjoy!

Love Train

Lyrics by The Ojays

People all over the world (everybody)
Join in (join)
Start a love train, love train
People all over the world (all the world, now)
Join in (love ride)
Start a love train (love ride), love train
The next stop that we make will be England
Tell all the folks in Russia, and China, too
Don’t you know that it’s time to get on board
And let this train keep on riding, riding on through
Well, well
People all over the world (you don’t need no money)
Join hands (come on)
Start a love train, love train (don’t need no ticket, come on)
People all over the world (Join in, ride this train)
Join in (Ride this train, y’all)
Start a love train (Come on, train), love train
All of you brothers over in Africa
Tell all the folks in Egypt, and Israel, too
Please don’t miss this train at the station
‘Cause if you miss it, I feel sorry, sorry for you
People all over the world (Sisters and brothers)
Join hands (join, come on)
Start a love train (ride this train, y’all), love train (Come on)
People all over the world (Don’t need no tickets)
Join hands (come on, ride)
Start a love train, love train
Ride, let it ride
Let it ride
Let it ride
People, ain’t no war
People all over the world (on this train)
Join in (ride the train)
Start a love train, love train (ride the train, y’all)
People all over the world (come on)
Join hands (you can ride or stand, yeah)
Start a love train, love train (makin’ love)
People all over the world (’round the world, y’all)
Join hands (come on)
Start a love train, love train

Great James River Raft Race

Guaranteed to get your feet a tappin’!  When I was a younger guy – my dad was stationed in Petersburg, VA, and every July – we’d have “The Great James River Raft Race”.

The local radio station had a commercial which was done by the same musicians, and in the same style as this video – which was a comparable event in Florida.

I was sittin’ round the house, and a roastin’ in the summer,

And a’twiddlin’ my thumbs & thinkin “What a bummer!

Then I heard a fella talkin’ on the kitchen radio,

He said “Get yourself a raft; that’s the only way to go!

It’s a Tampa Bay Raft Race a’ comin’ real soon,

And as sure as I’m sittin’ here pickin this tune,

He said “You can help yourself & have a good time too!

And the way he talked – it sounded like a proper thing to do.

He said “Set your feet a walkin’ with your vim & your vigor,”

And somethin’ that he said gave a tug to my trigger,

So i fired up my Chevy, and I took a little journey,

Got a barrell and a log & my poor dog Betty….!
