“Cisgendered”? What Does That Mean…?

Cisgendered refers to someone whose anatomical gender is consistent with its socially accepted references..

For instance – in the delivery room, if a doctor announces, “It’s a girl!” in the delivery room, and that baby grows up to identify as a woman, then we’d say she is cisgendered….”

As TIME magazine explains, “Cisgender is a word that applies to most (indeed the “vast majority of“) people who would identify as not transgender.
