Noteworthy reference points: CompuServe offered limited online connectivity in 1989 when it connected its proprietary email service to allow incoming and outgoing messages to other Internet email addresses(1).

The internet (& specifically “web browsing“) ignited in 1994, when Prodigy became the first of the early-generation dialup services to offer full access to the World Wide Web(2).

Also good to note:  Microsoft Internet Explorer v 1.0 was released August 16th, 1995(3) – the middle of the 1990s.
